About Depth Engine

Depth Engine is a free browser game about guessing the answer that is correct but not obvious. You get seven prompts, twenty-five seconds each, and a score measured in metres. It exists because the endless mode in Krillion is the most replayable part of that game and the part people most want to practise.

Independent, and not subtle about it

This is an unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Krillion or the people who make it. We do not have access to their prompt bank, their scoring data, or their roadmap. Nothing on this site is an official statement about their game, and if anything here contradicts them, they are right.

We do not bypass, unlock, crack, or otherwise circumvent any paid feature of any game. There is no unlock code on this site, no mirror of paid content, and no “premium generator”. If you want the official endless mode, buy it from the official source — there is a page on this site that says exactly that.

The prompt bank is ours

Every prompt and every answer tier in this game was written for this site. The bank currently holds 60 prompts across five categories — geography, sports, science, cinema, and wordplay — and it grows most weeks. Tier assignments are a judgement call about how a crowd answers, not a fact about difficulty, so they get revised when the data looks wrong.

Matching is exact after normalisation: lowercase, punctuation stripped, whitespace collapsed. That means a genuinely brilliant answer can score zero if nobody wrote it down yet. It is the main weakness of the tool, and the honest fix is a bigger table rather than fuzzy matching that would quietly accept wrong answers.

Your data stays in your browser

There is no account system, no database, and no server-side game state. Your best round, number of rounds played, recently seen prompts, and last twenty results are stored in your own browser under the localStorage key depth_engine_v1. Nothing is transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere to transmit it to.

We do count visits, using a self-hosted Plausible instance. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data, does no cross-site tracking, and cannot identify you — it records aggregate page views, referrers, and a small number of product events (such as how often the Retro Dive panel is opened). Those numbers live on our own server, not in an ad network. There are no advertising pixels anywhere on this site.

Clearing your browser's site data erases your game history permanently — we cannot recover it for you, and we would not be able to if we wanted to.

Corrections

If an answer is graded wrongly, a fact is wrong, or a prompt has an obvious hole in its answer table, that is worth fixing. The bank is a plain TypeScript file and every prompt carries a note to expand it, so corrections are cheap to make and usually ship the same week.

That is the whole disclaimer. The game is right here, it is free, and it does not want your email address.
